Sakura Watch, March 27, 2019 - As the sun shines down on High Park, the wait continues to see more bud development. The blue skies are a welcome change, but a chill still hangs in the air as it blows throughout the cherry blossom trees and holding back any changes for now. Watch the latest video update below:

Buds Still In Great Shape

Taking a close look at the sakura buds, I could see they all still appear to have healthy, bulbous shapes with little signs of damage. The reddish and brown colours are also excellent indicators of the bud’s well being and hardiness as they continue to stay shut to protect their delicate petals from the last bouts of cold weather. Here are a few photos from today’s visit:

Warmer Wet Weather On The Way

The buds are still waiting for warmer temperatures to give them a cue its time to move on to the next stage. The 14 day forecast already looks promising with rain and warmer air temperatures in the double digits to extend throughout the coming weeks. This would be a definite boon to as I watch for hints of green tips signalling the next stages have begun.

Hopefully, after this warmer week passes, I will finally see signs of more progression. Watch for more updates next week!
