Sakura Watch, April 19, 2012 - Sakura are falling, but a few blooms persist throughout that park. The weather is still calling for rain late Friday and Saturday which will also diminish the number of blossoms throughout the park. With that said, there are still definitely some beautiful blooms to enjoy before they all disappear next week. You can really see the difference when comparing trees such as these two growing side-by-side by the soccer sports fields (photo below).

A dramatic difference is evident between the tree that bloomed a few days later (on the left side of the photo) then the tree on the right which has now lost most of its bloom. Although the blooming trees that are still showing throughout the park may be in the 50-60% range of fullness, they are still enough to take in the beauty before they fall away over the next week. As proof that there is still some beautiful spots to enjoy throughout the park, here are some photos were taken this evening:

The second close-up photo (photo on the right) shows a Sakura // Cherry Blossom branch with half the petals fallen and yet still possessing the beautiful bright pink and white colours for all of us to enjoy. The leaves will now begin to grow much more quickly, and the contrast of the once full white trees will start to transform into a mix of green and pink before they are entirely green over with new leaves by early May.
