Sakura Watch May 5-6, 2018 - Bloom has begun in High Park
Sakura Watch May 5-6, 2018 - Bloom has begun in High Park, and with visits on both Saturday and Sunday, this latest updated highlights how quickly the blossoms are opening up. The sunny and warm weather has accelerated the bloom over the last couple days and the ideal viewing time is going to be this week between Monday and Wednesday before rain threatens to knock down the blossoms on Thursday, and even more so over Mother's Day weekend.

Media coverage over weekend
Saturday began with recording a BlogTO podcast with new host Dani Stover. It was a lot of fun and am looking forward to listening to her series soon and will post our session once it is available.
Then on Sunday evening, I had the chance to do a Live CityNews interview with Stella Acquisto, where we talked about how upcoming rain will affect the overall bloom dates. Our conversation is posted on my YouTube channel .
The question I get most asked is what the best dates to view the bloom are? The answer is this week between May 7-9th when the trees will reach 75-100% bloom by midweek.
The cherry blossoms have started to open all over the park and continue to bloom a little more each day.

Bloom may get washed out before Mother's Day
With rain forecast for Thursday and even more to come on Mother’s Day weekend, the blossoms may get knocked down resulting in less bloom to see going into Sunday. This means there may only be a good 4-5 days of full bloom this year.
I’ll be posting more updates over the week to see the progress of the trees and see if they survive the Thursday rainfall. Stay tuned for more updated soon!
